Sometimes I Live in the Country

Wintry Boughs, Co Waterford.

Always loved that song  Goodnight Irene, the verses are a hoot and there's a great chorus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-lH3axMR4U.... These two photos remind me of a few lines from one of the verses: Sometimes I live in the country, sometimes I live in the town.. The first one is from Co Waterford, one of those wintry scenes from the woods, beech, oak and birch silently communing . If the trees could talk!..... reminds me of another song too, Whispering Grass, Don't tell the trees...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBrwaCjJIFU.

Anyway, I find the bare trees so striking in the February dreariness, winter still lingering. I'm wandering along the track, looking at boughs and branches leaning towards the light, trying to catch the faint pulse of spring.

The second photo is from Sandymount in Dublin, a great place to catch a good view of the coast and the large skies ushering in any winds of the day.  This September evening seems paused between tides. Take a breath, breathe, feels good to be out in the open air. A slight breeze blowing the smoke of the day away.

Both these photos received Honourable Mentions in the Iphone Photography Awards for 2023. See the wonderful range of photos here... https://www.ippawards.com/?v=d2cb7bbc0d23
