Point of View

During a wintry phase last year, I was walking through low January sunlight in Drumcondra,Dublin, the trees silhouetted, looking marvellously bare and casting deep shadows through the frosty morning. Such a monochromatic mood. Weather for gloves, hats and hoods! Had my phone camera out and was looking from different viewpoints at the contrasting tones. I was just about awake enough to see a figure move between the trees on the footpath, adding a human element to the scene. Using burst mode on the phone camera gave me a little leeway with the composition. Then some editing with the Snapseed App later on and a conversion to blackandwhite. Was pleased when the photo was commended in the Mobile Photography Awards for 2022 which were published recently.
