Spring in your Step ?

Catching up, with some recent phone photos. Not so sure about that Spring in my step though! It’s been a bit grim here of late, winter still hanging in there. Weather warnings and heavy bouts of rainfall even last weekend.

Late December and early January seemed to have more brightish days . Here’s a shot of the xmas swim in Clontarf, not that I ventured in, someone had to have the towels and warm drinks handy!

Even walking along Clontarf Road in early January on another bright but chilly morning, that low winter sunlight illuminating the view and raising the spirits out of the bleak midwinter .

But then we‘ve had a lot of grey days in late January and February also. It seems that recently we even had nine days without a single hour of sunshine! Not to mention storms, easterly winds and long bouts of rain also.Snowdrops and crocuses haven’t had much of a chance to shine so far!

In fact,a number of hillwalks have been cancelled this winter and Spring[!] because of dire weather. Venturing out a few weeks ago on a day that was predicted to be pretty clement on all the weather apps, the trek towards Lugnaquilla from Knickeen Ford turned into a mostly heavy slog through dense mist, wind and poor visibility. And then suddenly, the sun beamed through and parted the clouds as we began the descent. The mountains glowing  briefly in the marvellous evening light.
