Hellebore at the Botanic Gardens Dublin
The Botanic Gardens in Dublin is such a treasure trove. Even in winter there's always something to catch the eye, especially this year when winter seems reluctant to let go and spring is struggling to get a foothold ! We seem to have had lots of rain, storms and high winds these past few months. Certainly the winter of 2018/19 was a lot milder. Even today, icy breezes are still billowing about our flooded local stomping ground , the Bull Island. Though I did see a first lark this morning rising above the dunes and singing through the lingering wintriness !
Anyway the Botanic Gardens provide a welcome respite. Wander into the Alpine House and see the Hellebores lead the vanguard ! Mostly I find them hard enough to photograph as their heads often seem to hang down so this 'Molly's White' certainly stood out as it met the gaze of the sun full - on through the windows of the glasshouse.
